At Hope Unbridled Equestrian Program, our Stride Out lessons are generally offered on a weekly basis in one-hour blocks and are staffed by our PATH International-certified instructors. To be considered for one of our programs, prospective participants must be at least four years of age and within our height and weight limits. The admissions process begins with a phone call or email to us to discuss whether equine-assisted activities may be beneficial.
If our programs seem like they would be a good fit, the prospective participant (or the parents or legal guardians) is asked to complete the required application form and return it to HUEP. We request biographical information, medical history, and the participant's goals and objectives.
Upon receipt of the completed application, staff members will assess the information to determine eligibility. If the prospective participant is eligible, we will schedule a riding evaluation. Once the evaluation is successfully completed, we will begin looking for an open slot in our program schedule.
Admission into our program will depend upon certain logistical considerations, such as scheduling issues and availability of a horse that is appropriate for the size, therapeutic needs and ability level of the participant. Most participants attend group lessons, so we also must find an available opening in the appropriate class.
While we make every effort to place new participants as soon as possible, we occasionally do not have an immediate opening. In these cases, we contact the participant as soon as all of the required conditions become available.
